Independent Business Feature – Fox Flowers

Artificial flowers have many benefits.  They last all year round, they’re non toxic to our precious children and pets, they’re cost effective, and they don’t end up forgotten and forlorn in a vase of cloudy water.

I have to admit that I have always found it difficult to find any that are realistic enough to rival the fresh blooms that I have delivered once a month to brighten up my home.  They are always a little stiff, a little too uniform, the colours a little staid.

That is, until now.

‘Fox Flowers’ are a small but thriving business that claims to create ‘unbelievably realistic faux flowers [with] intricate changes in colour and subtle shifts in texture [that] add authenticity to the petals, leaves and stems.’  And I can tell you that these claims are absolutely true.  I have recently had the pleasure of enjoying a large bouquet of their autumnal coloured blooms in my home, and they are, without doubt, the best faux flowers I have ever seen.  Like ever. Put together by skilled hands, to match the colours in my newly decorated bedroom, they are a truly stunning centre-piece.

This gorgeous collection of autumnal stems look perfect against the plaster coloured wall in my bedroom.

The attention to detail in the flowers and the greenery is unbelievable

Let me introduce the people behind the scenes as they give you a little more information on their family run business.

1. What made you decide to start Fox Flowers?

We have been selling faux flowers for over 10 years as part of our homeware collection at our sister brand Olive & the Fox. A few years ago we decided it was time to create a dedicated brand and website to showcase our range of faux flowers.

2. Introduce the team.

We are a small team of dedicated individuals.

Laura (Owner) creates the collections of flowers we offer and designs the flower arrangements. Along with producing orders and co-ordinating the team she also designs and maintains the website.

Anthony (Owner, and husband to Laura) looks after the customer service side of the business and logistics at our warehouse

Katie – florist producing customer orders and bespoke project designs

Laura B – florist producing customer orders and bespoke project designs

Chloe – freelance florist

Sarah – freelance florist

Jon – Warehouse manager

They offer beautiful bouquets of greenery as well as flowers

3. How did you choose the name?

It derived from our sister company Olive & the Fox, which sells quirky, yet elegant products for the home. Fox Flowers had a nice ring to it and tied in perfectly.

4. How and where did the business start?

We are based in East Sussex and the Flower website went live in May 2017

5. What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

We have experienced a rapid growth in business over the last year which has been challenging (in a good way) to cope with as we have had to expand our team of florists, and implement a lot of training, whilst also increasing our production of stems in order to fulfil increasing sales.

6. What do you enjoy the most?

We love creating new collections and arrangements – we find it so much fun and enjoy inspiring others. We also love a project where we get to create one off designs for hotels and commercial clients.

These roses are part of their new collection which is launching on 8th October

7. What makes you stand apart from other similar businesses?

We feel we have a unique approach to faux flower arranging and aim to offer a diverse and unique collection of flower arrangements that you won’t find anywhere else.

8. What is the most important piece of advice that you could give others thinking of starting a business?

Make sure your business stands out from the crowd whether that’s through a unique product, branding or marketing. You need to offer something different for people to stand up and take notice but always make sure you back it up with great customer service.

The colours in this bouquet tie in perfectly with my bedroom, but I’m sure this bunch will be moved all over the house!

With a rapidly growing follower count on Instagram, and the most beautifully curated feed, I am sure that this business can only continue to go from strength to strength.  I will certainly be back for a spring/summer bouquet in 2019!

Their stunning Instagram feed has gained them a following of over 6000 people

You can find their webshop at www.foxflowers.co.uk and their instagram here.

This post has been written in collaboration with Fox Flowers, however all words and opinions are my own.  I only promote products that I truly love.
